Hi all.  Just thought I should start this topic Smile

Chemical Exposure is going to be a very non linear, action packed and HOPEFULLY a fun level.

I'll post some screenshots a little later this week, but I don't wanna ruin too much.

It's really cool to be part of this project btw, major thanks to Dark and the team for accepting us into the project, and when this project gets released I'm quite sure it'll get 5 cacowards!   Smile

Some screenshots:

Cheers!

Quick question, is there any limit on difficulty? This map has "classical" Plutonia on steroids gameplay, like major badass steroids. haha Smile

Oh and I've been making major progress on this map in the last few days!

Thanks, that's very good to hear ! Smile

Regarding difficulty, I can't speak for Franck, but a "Plutonia++" kind of difficulty will fit in very well !
Dislogical's two maps and Franck's "Hidden Experiment" are certainly geared towards hard fights.

Awesome! Well I played it again and the harder fights in my maps are more intimidating than hard. Not impossible by any means. Wink

As of now the map is nearly finished with the exception of some finetuning, some monster placement, and 2 rooms.

Hope you are enjoying your weekend Wilou. Smile

Could've been better as I have quite a lot of work to do until tomorrow morning, but yeah it's cool.

If you need playtesting, I'm still here ( and actually I'm curious to see your map :p ).

By the way, did you manage to retexture it with Franck's updated resource wad ?

My weekend was okay as well, drank too much beer though. haha.

Nooooooo..... I was hoping that was a google translate mistake! Mad

I'll get on re texturing it now.

xD
I'm preparing an Excel file with the correspondence between old and new textures, which could prove useful to all of us... Maybe you should just wait and finish your map with the texture wad you have now, and then retexture it later once the pack is fully ready ( and once I'm done with my file :p ).

Hello!

I haven't done any work on this map for probably over a year, haha... but I'm wondering if anyone will be interested in taking a look? It'd be really nice to hear some opinions.
Smile

Sorry for spamming this forum btw. Razz

I'd be glad to try this one !

Does it work with the old resource wad or the new ?
( I assume the former )

Yeah, it uses NT version 0.7 or something... It's hard to keep up with all this retexturing tbh. Razz
But anyway.. check your white email privilege Smile

And remember a lot is going to get an overhaul because I'm not happy with this map so far. Razz

Btw, the midi included was written expecially for this map. Smile

Thanks for sharing the map !

It actually did work with the latest resource wad, and I see you definitely had fun with the textures, that's great. Smile
Man, the scale of this level is definitely something. Plenty of interesting and gorgeous vistas with windows allowing us to get a good grasp of the various structures. A lot of height variation, I like that Wink
Gmeplay-wise, for now it's almost totally devoid of resources so I can't really tell, but the part around the Cyberdemon and AV duo is totally neat - a particularly memorable area. Cool

I also liked the fact that many routes were available at the start, you can either try the toxic river or the military complex, which holds various passageways and surprises as well ( I only found the SSG at the very end of my playthrough ).
The non-linearity is a major plus.

I wish Franck expanded on his vine texture set, it would go well in that grey cave near the Blue skullkey.

I noticed that the very first door - behind the player's starting point - opens at a different speed when opened from different sides. Is there a reason for that ?

Overall I'm really curious to see how this map will turn out to be !
There are many locked doors that you guys can expand on.

As for the midi, well it's cool but maybe a bit over the top in places... Or it's probably me getting old and all. Smile
Dislogical will be a better judge for this kind of style Cool

Hey Wilou! Smile

Thanks for the feedback!
It's really motivating to get detailed feedback like this! I'm actually getting a lot of ideas for this map again and I've worked out how I'm going to finish it actually... partly thanks to you for making me look at it again in the editor to make sure it was the right version and for the words. Cool

I'm going to bulldoze over a few more areas actually, including Snakes' half finished big empty rusty room for starters... I just don't know how to expand on that area... I love him, but if he goes silent like he has for the last 2 years whenever I mention this map to him then I have to resort to extreme measures, haha. Razz

I'm only going to work on it after exams though... because I gave my flash disc to someone to hide from me... because I'm an irresponsible bastard when it comes to almost everything, and Doom Builder is a lot more tempting than an accounting book. Wink

No worries regarding the midi.... it'd probably fit better in a simple fast paced small map or something, it didn't fit anywhere in Revelations of Doom because of the focus on non linearity, the atmosphere changes and tempo changes in gameplay within each map etc... feels very weird when you're trying to find your way through corridors with monsters that have already been killed or you're on an adventure or something... and you have this thing that's still blazing at 250bpm.... 'calm down, calm down, I've killed the monsters already! there are no monsters left on this level! shut up you stupid cunt!' haha.

tl;dr I'll probably be able to find a better midi. Smile

Thanks for the collab offer, I'm definitely excited about this map !

I have a question : why are there two blue skullkeys ? Were you planning something special as regards to that, or could I change the key in the underground part to another color ? :p

Haha, what a stupid mistake. Razz

I was thinking of a door where you need both keys to access, as far as key color for your route goes you can choose whatever color you think fits it's surroundings better. Smile

Stay tuned !

I'm really curious to see how the map eventually ends up... out of all my wip collabs atm this is looking to be one of the more interesting ones, haha.

Hey Adrian, I noticed that there is a texture which is missing in your map (in the last version of NT compilation [19-08-2016]). Problem, the name about this texture doesn't exist in NT, neither the old version of NT, nor in the new version of ressources pack. Can you identity this texture?

The name : BRICKPL9.

Hey Wilou Smile

Have you touched the map since I gave it to you? I'd like to see if I can play around a bit and flesh out some details.. I have some time to waste, hehe.

Hope you're doing well!

Hey Adrian !
Well, nah I haven't reworked it :/
Been too busy with other maps and projects.

I've just replayed it a bit and wanted to ask you a few questions about what you wanted to do with the remaining areas (most notably the southeast area), so yeah, have fun Cool
I'll be glad to help again (for real this time, heh) once you're done !
