What does everyone think? IMO, if we're going to have the 'green' gimmick, maybe we go all the way and OWN it. Cool

Interesting.
I recall that at some early point in the project's development we had a discussion about painting some more resources in either green or black. DaRk posted some sprites for us to discuss...
I believe that it wouldn't be too good to have too many things in green and black, it could alter the gameplay ( for example, Arch-Viles are threats that are needed to be distinctly seen from afar by the player, and thus shouldn't be made black ).
Power-ups also need to be seen from afar, and so having them green as well wouldn't be wise IMHO.

But you've got a point, and I'd like to add to it. Smile
Maybe having less jarring colors for some of the monsters and sprites would be good. For instance, the pink Baron of Hell and Demon look totally out of place in Necromantic Thirst. Making them green wouldn't be good, but black, brown or grey could be interesting options.
As for power-ups, DaRk used nice yellow spheres I recall...

Totally agree on not changing everything, just little details here and there IMO, especially since mappers often use soul spheres as ornaments (it's a mapper thing!) I thought it'd be cool. Razz I don't want to overdo it though and I don't have other ideas.

I don't think we need to touch the archviles either.... they look wretched and evil as they are, and need to stay that way in order to tell them apart.

Hey Wilou, just thought of something... what do you think of a green skull key for E3 to replace the yellow skull key, since we don't use skulls in either E1 or E2, a green skull key can be an extra touch to make E3 a little bit more special?

No need for a green keycard, ofcourse. Razz

I don't think whether it's a good idea. It would be difficult to distinguish the green key, in a green hellish environment. Keys, and textures of keys have to remain a shape of distinction.
